ABOUT MRS. GRILL
Mrs. Grill with Bernie Williams of the Yankees
I am glad to be a 4th grade teacher at Watervliet Elementary School. The 2016 - 2017 school year is my 34th year of teaching and all 34 years have been at Watervliet Elementary School. I have taught 2nd, 5th, and 6th grade, but the majority of my career has been in 4th grade - my favorite!
I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the State University College at Oneonta and my master's degree in General Education from the University at Albany, State University of New York.

I was born and raised in Watervliet and have lived in the Capital Region my entire life. I have been married to my husband John for 33 years and together we have two children. My son, Matthew, is 29 and works as a project manager in Albany. His wife, Jenn, is 28 and is an optometrist. They were married on September 27th, 2013. My daughter, Sarah, is 26 and has left her career in marketing/public relations to once again become a student. She is studying nursing at Russell Sage College and plans to graduate in December, 2016.

In my free time I enjoy reading, spending time with my children and my nephew Gabriel, cheering for the New York Yankees, and crocheting (I'm a member of the "In-Stiches" club at the Watervliet Public Library). Sadly, my beloved Chihuahua, Cyndi, passed away in May, 2014. I also spend quite a bit of time volunteering. Check it out here!

For me, teaching is more than my occupation, it is my passion. I went into teaching because I wanted to work with kids and help be an integral part of their development. My class of 2011 - 2012 students left me with a surprise on the last day of school. It is things like this that keep me teaching and make me realize teaching is more than just numbers, it is making a profound impact on a student's life.
